PROMOTION OF AFRICAN CULTURAL MERIT: LAUNCH OF THE FIRST EDITION OF THE JAYLI AWARDS
ABIDJAN ON FEBRUARY 24, 2023. THE FIRST EDITION OF THE JAYLI AWARDS WHICH INTENDS TO BE A PRESTIGIOUS CEREMONY OF DISTINCTION FOR ACTORS FROM THE AFRICAN CULTURAL WORLD WAS LAUNCHED THIS FRIDAY AT THE SOFITEL HOTEL IVOIRE.

The first edition of the ” Jayli Awards ” placed under the sponsorship of Dominique Ouattara, first lady of Côte d’Ivoire, was officially launched on February 24, 2023, at Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire, in the presence of an audience of personalities from the world of culture and artists.

According to the organizers, the prestigious Jayli trophy, spelling declination of ” Djeli ” (griot in Malinké), recognizes the remarkable work of the actors of the African musical world. It is a model modeled on the Grammy Awards ceremony in the USA for its sharp technical evaluation component and which aims to revalorize the African music industry. Among the innovations, note the limitation to one (1) of the number of possible votes per voter and per terminal and per category. A criterion that contradicts the practice that has become common to vote by a multiplicity of text messages

Candidates for the competition will have to submit their works on the stie www.c-wai.com which will then be analyzed by a first jury before being returned in the form of a shortlist to the official Jury composed of professionals from the cultural industry and musical. These include Lokua Kanza and Robert Brazza from DRC, Claudy Siarr from France, Paola Audrey Ndengué from Gabon, Didier Awadi from Senegal, David Tayorault and Georges Momboye from Ivory Coast. This jury will have the task of designating the 5 nominees who will ultimately be submitted to the vote of the public accounting for 75% of the counts and that of the jury itself accounting for 25%.
